SUMMARY JUDGMENT FOR CARDIOLOGIST

Following the submission of a summary judgment motion on behalf of a cardiologist, attorney Ginette M. Portera was able to obtain a discontinuance of the action against our client in October of 2024. The case involved an 88-year old female who developed a sacral pressure ulcer while under the care of our insured during a hospitalization which ultimately worsened to a stage IV, and the patient dying 17-months later.  The claims involved the failure to prevent and treat pressure injuries, failure to prevent and treat infection/sepsis, failure to timely obtain a wound culture and/or wound consult, and failure to diagnose and treat acute kidney injury.
